Gold fill legally requires 1/20th, or 5% pure gold by weight. It will not flake like gold plate. The finish and surface of gold fill has the same properties of solid gold because it is gold. 

C A R E 
Care for gold fill the same way you would gold, polish gently by hand with a soft cloth.
